Wasser und Salz

Both, water and salt are vital for us. On our hike from the outlet of the Ergolz to the Birschöpfli we encounter very important installations for the exploitation of drinking water for the Basel area. Moreover, at Schweizerhalle the Swiss Saltworks obtain salt by leaching from a Muschelkalk layer about 200m below surface since 1837.
