This hike is guided in English
and German language. We
would like to appeal to people who are not (yet) familiar
with Swiss German. We meet at Zurich main station at platforms 43/44, or
at Meilen railway station. We cross a
short section of the town of Meilen and
approach the wild and romantic Meilener ravine with its stream and waterfalls. We stop briefly at the Friedberg
castle ruins and continue uphill to the
end of the ravine in Toggwil. Here we
can enjoy the view for the first time.
After another 200 metres of elevation
gain, we reach the observation tower on the Pfannenstiel. Now we take a
break for refreshments and those who
wish, can climb the tower and enjoy
the fantastic panorama in good weather
conditions. We continue on an almost
level path through the still bright green
forest. In Wetzwil, we turn right to the
Blüemlisalp farm and begin our descent through the Erlenbach ravine.
A wildly bubbling stream and several
natural gems such as waterfalls, caves
and boulders await us. It’s a shame that
it is not much further to the centre of
Erlenbach. Here you have the choice
of returning to Zurich by train or by
boat.
